Design or sculpting?

or sculpting?

Both, since either of the two design teachings strongly influenced the career of the furniture and object designer.

After an apprenticeship as stone sculptor, Corian Siedentopf successfully completed his studies with main focus on product design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts HAWK in Hildesheim, Germany. As part of a university project, his design of a three-dimensional iris diaphragm as component of a table lamp was rewarded with a patent protection. For several years, Corian Siedentopf collaborated with sculptor Tony Cragg in his studio in Wuppertal. This enabled him, once more, to widen his repertoire of techniques and skills.

Today he adapts his sculptural sense of form to the design of furniture and objects. With his liberated understanding of form creation and innovative ideas, his creations acquire a unique, lively character. He produces his distinctive and award-winning design work in his studio in Cologne.
